Yes Im going Globetrotting with the Amazing Pat Sloan,,well in quilting style anyway, along with many others who have joined in on Pat’s 2014 BOM (Block of the Month), how exciting :)
Im actually late posting about this considering its already the end of January, above is the photo of the first block, its called Washington DC.
Each block is inspired by a famous city and Pat Sloan is doing the quilt in 2 different colour ways, you can read more about this BOM, get supply list and block pattern here
My search for fabrics for this BOM took quite a while because Im trying to step outside what I would usually go for, I need to experiment with colours otherwise everything I do will all start to look the same haha. Its hard as well choosing fabrics for something when you don’t know what it will look like, its a mystery quilt so I just went in search for something different for me :)
Heres the fabrics I chose
This fabric collection is “Berkely Square” by Michele D’Amore for Benartex, I Love it, there was more to choose from in the collection and as it is I bought too many but I couldn’t decide hahah so I will have some left to help build my very limited “stash”
And here is my Block finished
This block is the centre block of the quilt, its 24″ x 24″ so a good size, and was fun putting it together, after I decided which of the fabrics I would use in this block that is, haha too many choices but I think I did pretty good :)
Oh there is also a Facebook group where everyone is showing their blocks, chatting about all things quilty with Pat Sloan, its a great group of wonderful people with just over 3,500 members, you can find it here https://www.facebook.com/groups/QuiltWithPatSloan/
There is also a Flickr group for photo sharing and comments here http://www.flickr.com/groups/2436126@N24/
Really looking forward to the next block, Im not sure if there is a set date each month but the release could be any day :)
Are you also doing this BOM or any other? Have you done a Mystery quilt before?
I would love to hear from you :)
Thanks for reading
